Fabric Arts

Leigh has always wanted to become an artist. She took pottery lessons, but dry hands were not her thing. Tap dancing was not her thing. Then, since she was an avid sewer, she fantasized about being a designer, and so took a pattern making course at SAIT. She started making clothes for her children and when she moved to Prince George with her stash of fabric, she intended to start her own design line. That did not materialize, pun intended. Her artistic pursuits took a backseat to raising her children, teaching skiing, and playing squash. To find relaxation she took a tole painting class with co-workers and she felt her artistic side bloom. She painted many projects, gave some away as gifts, and most are hanging on walls or on shelves in her house collecting dust. Currently her passion has become quilting, starting with a T-shirt quilt made from Harley shirts. She has made a Unicorn one, Spiderman one and a Dog bone quilt for her daughter’s German Shepard, Ali. And one day, when she grows up she may become a real artist!
